Awesome, that's what. The Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) gives third-year med students the opportunity to participate more fully in interrelated clinical experiences and get to know patients across the continuum of care than a standard clerkship experience. We will accept up to 6 medical students for the 2019-2020 school year. Applicants will receive a notification in early 2019 regarding acceptance and/or interviews.
University of Minnesota medical students from both Duluth and Twin Cities campuses are eligible. We are looking for high performing students that are uniquely motivated towards providing care for underserved patients. Ideal candidates are comfortable with evolving expectations and willing to actively participate and collaborate in their education in unique situations. Successful students will be integral in helping to make this an awesome experience in collaboration with the clerkship directors and preceptors.
We expect each week to include ½ day of structured educational content in various formats (small group, simulation, reflective writing, etc) and ~40% unscheduled time (“white space”) that allows students to attend appointments, procedures, and unscheduled visits by their patients. This time will also allow students to cater their learning to fit their interests and needs.
